I Spent All Day Apologizing For Not Being Mark
- Olivia Voz
Mark was supposed to be here yesterday.
He wasn’t.
So I ran the trading room from Vail.
Broken tooth. Altitude sniffles. The works.
And I couldn’t stop apologizing for not being him.

“When dad’s away, you get the Voz style Fuse Trades,” I told everyone, half-apologizing, half-owning it.
We made money. Clean 30% on the SPY calls. Nothing fancy, nothing heroic – just consistent, executable profit.
I spent half the session apologizing for not being Mark.
Most traders do this constantly. They watch the masters, the big swings, the home-run hitters, and think that’s what trading looks like. They see Mark’s style of letting winners run and think, “That’s real trading.”
Meanwhile, they blow up their accounts trying to copy strategies they’re not ready for.
I’ve been trading for years, and I still choose my 30% rule over swinging for the fences. Not because I can’t hold longer, but because I know what works for me, what fits my personality, what keeps me in the game.
When Mark comes back, he’ll get you the big bucks with his style. When it’s just me? You get consistent, reliable, boring 30% wins.
Yesterday, while dealing with technical issues and trying not to sniffle into the microphone, I executed my plan perfectly. No drama, no hero moments – just clean entries and exits.
You’re not supposed to trade like the person you want to become. You’re supposed to trade like the person you are right now.
If you’re new, trade like a beginner – tight stops, small size, simple setups. If you’re intermediate, build on what’s working instead of jumping to advanced strategies. If you’re experienced but struggling, go back to basics.
My 30% rule isn’t just about profit targets – it’s about knowing myself as a trader. I know I get anxious holding overnight. I know I second-guess myself on longer holds. I know I sleep better when I’m flat at the end of the day.
So I built my entire approach around that self-awareness.
When the market gives me 30%, I take it. Every time. No exceptions. Even when it feels like leaving money on the table, even when others are holding more.
Because that consistency builds accounts over time. Not the home runs – the singles.
Markets don’t care if you’re trying to impress anyone. They don’t care if your style looks boring compared to someone else’s highlight reel. They pay you for being boring.
We made money being me.
Do what works for you.
Look…
You’ve been with me through the screen.
Watching me take boring 30% wins.
Listening to me sniffle through trades from Vail.
Now I want to meet you in person.
This March, I’m hosting my first conference in West Palm Beach.
Two days with me and Mark.
Live trading. Real conversations.
And zero apologies for being ourselves.
If you want to be in the room where we’re NOT trying to impress anyone…
Where we’re just doing what works…
