80% of people do this without ever noticing

Here is a fun fact that is going to mess with your head.

About 80% of people, all over the world, from America to Japan, naturally turn left when they walk. Not in a car, just on their own two feet. Righty or lefty, does not matter. Given the choice, four out of five of us just go left, and we never even notice we are doing it.

I heard this on a podcast while I was walking up and down my driveway, and you guys know me, I had to test it. Sure enough, I caught myself turning left every single time.

So I tried to force a right turn, and it felt wrong. It felt blasphemous. Not even just wrong, okay, it felt blasphemous. Then I ran it on the eleven people I am staying with. Every single one of them turned left. Every one. Not one person broke the pattern.

And then it hit me, because I cannot help myself, I turn everything into a trading lesson. This right here is why most people lose money in the market.

So think about what that left turn actually is. It is autopilot. It is your body doing the easy thing, the default thing, the thing everybody else is doing too, and you never even chose it. Trading is full of those left turns, guys.

The market dips and your gut is screaming at you to buy it because it feels cheap. Left turn. A setup looks kind of, sort of close to good, so you take it just to be in something. Left turn. You make a call, the market does the exact opposite, and your ego will not let you say you were wrong, so you double down. Left turn. Every one of those is you walking the way your body wants to walk instead of the way the market is actually pointing.

The whole edge, the entire thing, is learning to go right when right is the move, even when it feels blasphemous.

Let me show you what that looked like for me last week.

I was so sure that once we got past the Fed, the market was going to take off. And honey, I will just tell you, I was about 70% wrong. It did not take off. It did not crash either. It just stopped. Flat.

Sitting there doing nothing. Now the easy left turn would have been to pretend I nailed it, or to jump into some trade just to feel busy. Instead I just said it out loud. I was wrong, and that is fine. That is just what you do.

Then today the market hands me this big juicy move, and you know what I did with it? Pretty much nothing. I looked and I looked, and the setup I actually trust just was not there.

So I sat on my hands. And let me tell you, not trading is one of the hardest things there is, because every part of you wants to be in on the action.

That is the whole game, my friends.

Right now the market is just kind of flatlining, the momentum getting squeezed right out of it, and everybody is about to reflexively go grab for the bottom.

That is the big loud left turn. What clever people do is wait, stay honest, and only move when the market actually shows its hand.

So this week, catch yourself.

When you feel that automatic pull to buy the dip or force a trade or defend a bad call, stop and ask, am I just turning left with everybody else? The best traders are not the ones who are right the most. They are the ones who feel the reflex and refuse to follow it.

Rock On,

Voz

P.S. I don’t want to leave this place…
