“Why I Track Everything Like a Hedge Fund”
- Olivia Voz
Okay, so I’m gonna share something that might sound a little intense. I set monthly projections for my trading, kind of like how a hedge fund does it.
For Game Plan this January, I’m projecting 14 trades total – 10 wins, 2 breakevens, and 2 losses. For Fuse Trader, I’m expecting 12 trades with just 1 loss.
I know, that sounds aggressive. And to be completely honest, I think a lot of traders just don’t know what they’re expecting each month.
Why Most Traders Never Get Serious
Look, maybe you hop into trades hoping for the best. Maybe you’ll have a good month, maybe you won’t. No targets, no expectations, no accountability.
When I lay out monthly projections, everything changes. I’m not just hoping for wins. I’m tracking whether my actual performance matches what I projected.
So far in January? We’ve had 4 trades in Game Plan. No losses yet. 42% on January 2nd, 34% on January 7th, 41% on January 8th. And today’s juicy win that I still need to log.

We’re on track, but the month isn’t over.
What Happens When You Set Real Targets
Let me tell you something – when you set actual projections, you start making decisions differently.
If I’m expecting 12 trades this month and I’m at trade 8, I know I need 4 more setups. I can’t force trades that aren’t there, but I also can’t be lazy about the ones that are.
If I project 1 loss and I hit it early in the month, I don’t panic. I know that’s within my expected parameters. But it also makes me more selective about risk for the remaining trades.
Most importantly, it forces honesty about what’s actually working.
How I Calculate My Projections
I don’t just pull these numbers out of nowhere.
I’m looking at historical performance when the market’s acting like this, seasonal patterns – we’re in what I call the “hot season” right now with higher win rates. Then there’s the economic calendar stuff that could mess with setups, and honestly, my own capacity too.
For Game Plan zones, I track every single trade. Entry timing, exit timing, why I took it, why I didn’t. The data tells me what to expect.
When I say 12 trades with 1 loss for January, that’s based on patterns I’ve seen when the market behaves like this.
Why I Show You Everything
You can see everything. My wins, my projections, whether I’m hitting my targets or falling short.
Most trading services hide their real numbers. They’ll show you the winners and conveniently forget about the losers. Or they’ll give you vague “we had a great month” updates without actual percentages.
I tell you exactly what I expect and exactly what happened. If I project 10 wins and only get 7, you’ll know. If I say 1 loss and hit 3, that’s on me to figure out what went wrong.
What This Could Mean for Your Trading
Look, you can track your own stuff too. I’m not saying you have to do it exactly like I do, but having some kind of expectation helps.
Maybe look at your last 6 months.
How many trades did you take? What was your actual win rate? Not your cherry-picked best trades – your real win rate including everything.
Set a realistic target for next month. Maybe it’s 8 trades with a 60% win rate. Maybe it’s 15 trades with 70% winners.
Then track whether you hit it.
The projection isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being honest about what you can actually deliver and whether you’re improving.
I mean, maybe it helps you figure out what’s actually working. That’s what it’s done for me, anyway.
Where We Stand Right Now
We’re tracking 12 Game Plan trades with 1 expected loss this month. We’re already 4 trades in with zero losses and strong percentages.
The month isn’t over, but the data so far suggests we might beat projections.
I mean, it’s working for me so far, but we’ll see how the rest of January goes.
And maybe we’ll have some Fuse Trader bombshells coming up too.

P.S. Oh, and I should probably mention… I’m doing my first conference in March. West Palm Beach.
It’s gonna be me and Mark for two days. Live trading, real talk, zero pretending to be something we’re not.
Honestly, I’m a little nervous about it. But if you want to be in the room where we’re just… doing our thing… you should come.
Early bird pricing ends soon, so don’t wait too long.
