Me, You, and 1000 Bucks
- Olivia Voz
The market was green at 1:59 this afternoon, and by 2:30 it wasn't.
Okay so, before anything else: I'm going live at 6 pm ET, and somebody in that room is walking out with $1,000.
Could be you, the only rule is you have to show up. Q-Spot encore, your questions, and I'm walking through exactly what just happened and what I'm doing about it.
Because here's what just happened.
Green on the Dow, green on the S&P, green on the Qs, all of it, like the first rate hike in three years was already priced in and everybody could go home.
Then the number hit, and it was fine, and then Warsh started talking about inflation and the whole thing rolled over. The 10-year went back above 5%, the Dow gave back 630, and the S&P had its first 1% down day since July 29th.
You know what July 29th was? The last Fed meeting. And that day closed at the lows too.
I told you guys two weeks ago that rates were running and the market hadn't come down to meet them, and that kind of divergence doesn't last. Either rates come back in or the market comes down.
Today the market came down. That's not me being a genius, that's just what happens when something gets ignored long enough.
And on Monday I said price was going to try to fool us, pump it up and then drop it.
I'm not talking about some person out there pulling levers. I'm talking about price. Price runs up into the thing everybody's waiting for, gets everyone comfortable, and then goes the other way.
So what do you do with it? You don't chase it.
A day that closes near the lows after a hike is not the day to be a hero in either direction.
The thing I'm watching is simple.
Does tomorrow's open hold above today's close, or does it give it up in the first 15 minutes.
That one answer tells you whether today was a reaction or the start of something, and you don't have to guess, you just have to wait for it.
I’m gonna be talking about it tonight 6 PM. Along with my plan of attack for tomorrow morning.
Be there, one lucky person walks away with $1,000 just for showing up.
Rock On,
Voz
